Chandni Chowk, established in the 17th century by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan, is a historic marketplace located in Old Delhi, near the iconic Red Fort. Designed by Shah Jahan’s daughter Jahanara Begum, the market once featured a canal reflecting moonlight—hence the name “Chandni” (moonlight).
