Religious PlaceShri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine is nestled in the Trikuta Mountains at an altitude of about 5,200 feet above sea level. Instead of an idol, the Goddess is worshipped in the form of three natural rock formations (Pindis) representing Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi, and Maha Saraswati.
The pilgrimage begins from Katra, the base camp, and involves a scenic 13 km trek through mountains, forests, and tunnels. The shrine attracts millions of devotees every year, making it one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world.
The entire yatra is well-managed by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board, offering facilities like accommodation, food, medical aid, battery cars, ponies, and helicopter services.
