National ParkTadoba National Park is located in eastern Maharashtra and forms part of the Vidarbha region. It is named after “Taru”, a local tribal deity, and the Andhari River that flows through the reserve.
The park covers an area of around 1,700 sq km (core + buffer zones) and consists of dry deciduous forests, bamboo groves, grasslands, and water bodies. Tadoba is one of the best tiger sighting parks in India, especially during summer when animals gather near lakes.
Apart from tigers, the park is home to leopards, sloth bears, Indian bison (gaur), wild dogs (dhole), sambar, chital, nilgai, and over 280 species of birds. Several lakes such as Tadoba Lake, Kolsa Lake, and Telia Lake make it a biodiversity hotspot.
