Fort-PalaceThibaw Palace was built in 1910 by the British government for King Thibaw Min, the last ruler of the Konbaung dynasty of Burma (now Myanmar). After the British annexed Burma in 1885, King Thibaw, Queen Supayalat, and their daughters were exiled to Ratnagiri.
The palace is situated on a hilltop near Ratnagiri coastline and offers beautiful views of the Arabian Sea. The structure reflects a blend of British colonial and Indian architectural styles, with red laterite stone walls, spacious verandas, and sloping roofs.
Today, Thibaw Palace is maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) and houses a small museum displaying photographs, historical information, and artifacts related to the Burmese royal family and their life in exile.
The palace is known for its calm atmosphere, historical significance, and scenic surroundings, making it both a heritage and picnic destination.
