Religious PlaceTuljapur Temple is located in the town of Tuljapur in Dharashiv district of Maharashtra. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Tulja Bhavani, who is believed to be the family deity (Kuldaivat) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. According to history, Shivaji Maharaj received the divine sword (Bhavani Talwar) from the goddess.
The temple is believed to have been built in the 12th century and is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas. The architecture reflects ancient Hindu temple styles with stone carvings and strong fort-like structures. The idol of the goddess is made of granite and is always visible to devotees without a closed sanctum, which is unique.
