Thibaw Palace was built in 1910 by the British government for King Thibaw Min, the last ruler of the Konbaung dynasty of Burma (now Myanmar). After the British annexed Burma in 1885, King Thibaw, Queen Supayalat, and their daughters were exiled to Ratnagiri.

The palace is situated on a hilltop near Ratnagiri coastline and offers beautiful views of the Arabian Sea. The structure reflects a blend of British colonial and Indian architectural styles, with red laterite stone walls, spacious verandas, and sloping roofs.
